The general hardware components of a geographical  information system are presented  below :
 
 
  • Cmputer system
  • Digitizer
  • Scanner
  • Plotter
  • Printer


Digitizer and scanner  are mainly used to convert maps and documents into digital form so that they can be used by the computer program ( GIS software ) 

Plotter and printer or any type of display device  are used tp present the results of  GIS analysis to its users.
